“Come on, beautiful. I want to show you off.”

Luke watched Addison pout playfully while sitting on his bed. She looks so beautiful when she scrunches her nose like that. He shook his head and turned to walk into his closet. After a few seconds, he heard Addison close the bathroom door. As he chose a gray, tight fitted T-shirt and a pair of jeans, he let his mind go to places he had restricted it from going earlier.

This felt perfect, but he was too old to believe in fairytales. Luke knew that it was only a matter of time before others came and tried to end this. He needed to keep Addison safe but also convince her that she needed his protection. He knew she was strong, but she wasn’t comfortable yet. Plus, there was that nagging feeling that she was hiding something from him. The part that made it worse was that he sensed it had to do with Gabe.

Thankfully, he thought, the connection between himself and Addison still hadn’t faded. Yes, she was better at putting up a wall to block him, but still, they could feel each other.
